with our Paramedic Refresher Course in September 2007, openings
are available.
Courses can be scheduled at your location with a minimum
of 4 students. Unfortunately there is no
eACLS equivalent for PALS. All

Public Safety Instructors, LLC is now a provider of ASHI
PALS.
The goal of the PALS Course is to provide healthcare
professionals with didactic and psychomotor skills training in the
recognition and treatment of conditions that may lead to a
cardiopulmonary arrest in an infant or child.
Upon completion of the ASHI PALS course, the participant should
be able to:
- Describe unique aspects of pediatric anatomy, physiology and
pathophysiology that affect assessment and treatment of an
infant or child.
- Form a first impression and conduct a systematic initial
assessment of an ill or injured infant or child.
- Distinguish conditions that require emergent or urgent
intervention based on a focused history and assessment findings.
- Use diagnostic skills and critical thinking to formulate an
appropriate plan of care for an ill or injured infant or child.
- Evaluate the patient's response to therapeutic
interventions.
Requirements for Course Completion
Cases/Scenarios
Given a pediatric patient situation, perform competently as a
team leader in a selected case/scenario:
- Upper Airway Obstruction
- Lower Airway Obstruction
- Tachycardia with Adequate Perfusion
- Tachycardia with Inadequate Perfusion
- Symptomatic Bradycardia
- Absent/Pulseless Rhythms
- Hypovolemic Shock
- Trauma
Written Examination
Obtain a minimum score of 84% in a closed book, multiple-choice
written examination.
